A-level Chem Electronic Configuration

Hiya, I'm currently doing some transition work regarding electronic configuration and am a bit confused. The confusion is with the 4s and 3d orbitals as some websites say to fill the 4s shell before the 3d shell whereas others are saying to fill the 3d shell and then the 4s shell. E.g. I got the electronic configuration of Arsenic as 1s2,2s2,2p6,3s2,3p6,4s2,3d10,4p3 however some websites suggest it is 1s2,2s2,2p6,3s2,3p6,3d10,4s2,4p3

AQA I think.

I haven't taught AQA since 2009, but back then they accepted the 4s and 3d in either order. I'd bet good money that they still don't care.

For the record, you should write 3d before 4s.
