Your teachers were probably really hard on you. Mine was & we all got 5s, 6s & 7s and we were in top set😂. But then he gave us all estimates of 7s/8s/9s so you’ll be fine!

Then your school is over-predicting and being too generous if anything IMO!

I was in set 2 and the teacher used to mark really harshly, I got my tutor to mark the same work and she gave me higher marks. In the mocks I got an 8 in Lang and a 9 in Lit, however my predicted grade was still a 6 :frown:. She also gave me a 'pass' grade for the spoken language component which was because I didn't speak much in class, probably because I was introverted but that doesn't mean that I can't speak English fluently so I decided to do a presentation to the Head of English and he moved my grade to a 'merit'. No one else's (who did a presentation) grade moved up except mine so I guess she was just doubting my abilities.

Wow top grades in latin!!
Atleast you didn't have to write the exams though, unlike me who still has to do them next year.
a good use of labor omnia vincit...

I don't know. I just was really good at languages and regret not taking more ( does CS count, we did Python?!). I just pick up grammar really quickly and can apply it pretty well too - i don't want to sound cocky, this is just my teacher's observations. My mock went pretty badly cos i didn't do as well as I wanted to mainly because I didn't revise the literature side to it so got an 8 overall which is still good as I got a 6 in my lit. If you don't want to enjoy lit just vaguely know it, i estimate 50% is just knowing the English so just know the story and a few key quotes but make sure you're really good at language and culture ( if you do it, if not just revise one set of lit really well)

A 9 IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE!? Wow, I’m impressed! Could you possibly give me some hints and tips in case I resit? I just can’t write stories under pressure and am aiming ideally for a 6

My mock grades were nothing like my real onesI don’t trust predicted gradesLot of change in acquiring knowledge tactics, strategy can happen between mocks and real exam. It’s unfair but then the whole cohort is in the same scenarioI feel for you all

Yep my target grades at year 10 were given by them practically after looking at my face since I moved in from another education system.

Really hard! I'm not the greatest at Maths so I found the Maths side very difficult but it is extremely rewarding and interesting, especially the coursework. It was also great because there were only 6 people in my class so I got a lot more help with the topics I found hard.

Thanks for noticing my username
I was given predicted grades after doing some topic tests
i wd be in difficult situation if my predicted grades were my actual grades
there is no scope for playing catch up though in a levels 😱

The best is probably to relate it to a time in your life, make up new names for people involved and do further detail into the setting. Also once your finished writing the story do a checklist of different features: simile, one lined paragraph, etc..
If you get the choice between a picture description or a story, choose the picture description as you can circle the areas to describe and you won't get side track. But always do checklist of features and don't be afraid to add more to the story even if it may look messy.

bit late on this but-
Maths 8 - literally on the thread between a 7 and an 8 so im just praying
Eng lang 9 - my school we did igcse english so it was super easy compared to the horrors i hear from everyone else, I was basically just good at transactional writing
Eng lit 8 - same thing here did igcse which is way easier - thinks its just more coursework based
Biology 8 - this was literally just a gcse on memorising but i was a teensy weensy bit lazy oops couldve gotten a 9 but im super happy w an 8
Chemistry 9 - literally no clue how this happened i understood nothing but went from 6s to 9s but not gonna complain lol
Physics 9 - once again no idea
French 9 - languages just come pretty easy to me - i would say i rote learnt loads of subjunctive and idioms which made it A LOT easier
Spanish 9 - same thing here
History 8 - my set was just a fun time, lowkey didn't understand any essay structures just got it for having a good memory lol
Music 9 - got my first ever 4s in this at the beginning of Y10, did not understand anything and then i just learnt exam technique and got top in my class. the world works in strange ways

My grades rlly boomed in Y11 just cause I revised more effectively for mocks and i suddenly started getting 8s and 9s in subjects where i was getting 6s and 7s, so im somewhat scared of teachers that dont like me using old Y10 mock grades where I was getting 6s as evidence. only time will tell tho but fingers crossed
