Reply 101

Yeah and see him when you go home!

My horses did help on my course :p: Since I was having major issues with stress it helped to go see a couple of my babies to calm me down

Reply 103

I would love too.
But i can't afford to. :frown:
She's not 100% sound, needs physio, loads of work, special shoeing.... all adds up.

Reply 104

Aww, are your parents going to look after her whilst you're away?

If you don't mind me asking, whats wrong with her?
One of mine isn't sound completly all of the time due to bad laminitis..he's getting better, but he's the one i worry about the most when i'm away as you have to get his feeding etc spot on. :frown:

Mum said noo. Which is fair enough, i work at a yard for her keep.
She had a nasty slip on some concrete that moved her shoulder a bit and urg. Vet says she can still work but godd. All the **** she needs!

Reply 106

Aww sorry to hear that. Will you sell/loan her?

Reply 107

mines staying at home either on part livery with a part loan, or on full livery...

i compete him almost every weekend, but he's not had a great start in life and i've finally found somewhere he's settled after 3 years....i wouldnt want to upset the applecart so to speak moving him for my benefit, when i know my yard manager would look after him exactly how i would if i were there...

sell as unsound. I know someone that's interested who would be ideal for her.

Hey,
At the moment I am trying to decide where to go, it is sort of between warwick and loughborough. I live in loughborough so the horses would not be a prob as I would be living at home.
However, If i go to warwick I would have to take one of them with me.
I have just got a 2 year old who will be 3 in may and i will back him then. I will set him out to grass over the winter when i will start uni so i can start uni and make friends without him and then bring him, if i go to warwick, and put him on livery DIY, found this really nice place 10mins away!
I'm hoping this works out! I could not bear to sell him after just backing him! and my mum will be looking after my other older mare and I dont think she would want to be looking after this youngster! and he needs riding often when he is young.
I will take my car though so that should be easier.

let me know how you get on!

lol just realised, my names Sian too! :P

Hiya Sian :p: Hehe!

Aww wow, I'm at uni in leicester, I used to live in Nottingham and keep my horses in Loughborough. Where abouts do you keep yours?

Do bear in mind that at uni there are riding teams etc you can join - but you aren't allowed to compete on your own horse. If you were allowed I would have brought mine, but i have gotten into quite a comfortable position now. I go home at weekends, 3 out of 4 weekends a month to ride/compete etc, and If i can I'll nip home during the week, but thats only just becoming possible. Whilst I'm away I have people to lunge my competition pony for me and so when I get back at weekends he's ready for me to compete/ride him etc.

When I was applying to uni I was obsessed with taking mine to uni, but after coming Ive realised it wouldnt be so easy.

Plus Warwick uni have an amazing riding team - we competed against them 2 weeks ago, they are quite good.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll do whatever is best - I wish i could have mine with me, but my course is full time and I'm in everyday so I just couldn't do it.

Do you have any pics of your horseS?

Hey,
yea after reading these comments it seems like it will be quite hard :s-smilie: its such a tough decision!
We are in rented atm and looking for a house with land so it may depend on where abouts we move and if i can come home regularly and ride.

lol I keep them near bradgate park, i dont know it you know where that is, near markfield.

I got an offer for leicester as well for zoology, is it nice there? I know its pretty good for bio.

ooohh yea i would love to join the riding team if im good enough!

I honestly really was considering it, but once I came I realised it wouldnt be fair to bring them because of the social aspect etc - they're getting cared for at home enough and they have the best of both worlds, with me going home at weekends riding them and then the time off in the week apart from a few lunging sessions. Although, I do know a few people who have brought their horses so just make the decision on whether you will be able to do it - you'll have to give up going out, meeting friends etc..I wish I had mine here though, its been so hard..whenever I come back from uni I just want to cry as I hate hearing all about whats going on up the farm etc. We have our own livery yard and riding school so I am kind of missing out being at uni..but i guess in the long run its better.
But, honestly, if you are able to take them then consider it because its awfull not having them there if you're used to it.

I'll have a look at your pictures in a second once i'm back from uni. I'll post a few pictures of mine also once I get home.

An appy awww  Lovely horses.

Anyway :argh:   christ what a waste of money that was. I rejoined my old lesson today and there was too many, 6, which doesn't sound like a lot but the school is very small for that amount. Turning away and people just getting in the way really hinders you. Hate the teacher, who was just cold and snotty and just shouted me down instead of explaining patiently, the horse was biting the air sideways constantly, plus the trains are not great sundays. I cried a little bit when I cycled to the station, which I don't often do.
