Hello,
I will be starting uni this September so I was wondering what you would do for dissertation in Royal Holloway? I would like to base mine around palaeontology but I am not sure what you are allowed to do.

Thank you in advance!

Is this for master's? You'll usually given research ideas by supervisors. You could email one of your future professors and ask.

Then it's way, like wayyyyy to early to be thinking about that. And I'll explain why...you may like a certain area of academic interest now before university, but until you've taken a course on it.. You won't know how it's actually taught and researched. So go and enjoy your first year, and then as you specialise in your second year an interest will pop up that may be totally different to what you now perceive!

I get what you mean, but I am still confused on which uni to choose between Queen Mary and Royal Holloway. I applied for Environmental Science in QM and I talked with them about dissertation so I know a little bit about it but I know nothing about Royal Holloway's dissertation plan. I know roughly that they get you to make a geological map but nothing more.

I had an offer for Royal Holloway for uni, but it was for business... 😂 And i chose Nottingham... But the people are very friendly... Though i would advise going for QMUL, Royal Holloway is in a tiny village...with basically London prices... But very little London fun.

Though you could also email your department via student services and see if someone will get back to you to discuss the disseration..
