The second choice would be better.

The latter...but only because the subjects in that combination are a lot more solid, i'd assume this is an advantage for a competitive maths application. But normally, since you're making a deliberate effort to start a new subject, i'd say the former because it could be read as you shirking the difficult A2...but then tis further maths so hey lol.

If you are an A2 student now ( just completed AS) then in effect you'll have 3 A2s + AS + AS nay? For some schools thats equiv to 4A2s neway..well it can be points wise.

As someone who did maths, and loved it, I'd say further maths is now a bit of a must. There really is no way single maths stretches a true mathematician to the limit, if you've got the chance to take further maths then really go for it...if you're just starting AS then any chance you could swap one of those subjects ( app ICT or business) for further maths? APP ICT is a lot of coursework and not much fun lol :P

what course do you want to do in uni?
if you want to go for physics, maths, engineering, economics or even management, the latter. go for further maths.
otherwise, both are fine. but further maths is more respected than app ICT.
