Just done a first response test, and Im pregnant. Around 4 weeks I would guess...
Feel stupid and unlucky as used condom, but it split, and took the morning after pill but it clearly didnt work
I cant tell my parents as they are v religious and would kill me for having sex and then wouldnt let me have an abortion...

So yes.

Need to have an abortion...

I need to go to my Gp? Do you still need a referral from 2 gps?
How many appointments are needed for it all to be over and done with, as I have no transport, live in the middle of nowhere and the boyfriend is super busy at work until end of month so I would have to get a taxi and I cant afford that.
Also, will I have to stay overnight in the hospital?

:frown:

forgive me for asking this (you dont have to answer it if you dont want to) but what religion and ethnic background do you come from?
Thank you everyone.

Ah, fair enough.
It all depends on how old you are. Go to your GP and tell them what you want to do, and your decision and reason behind that decision e.g. do not say that you cannot be bothered or you don't know why.

they will refer you to a specialist clinic. there is one that is nationwide that does all the abortions in the country mostly, unless you go privately.

As you are only 4 weeks pregnant, or round about then you should be able to take a pill, however over 6 weeks you need a proper termination as the foetus is half developed in terms of nervous system etc. by that age.

If you are under 18, or in full time education the abortion will be free

a word of warning however. from experience think very wisely about your choice, as getting rid of your unborn child is the most horrible experience of your life and will never leave your side

hope that helps xxx
I hope whichever decision to make is the right one for you OP

Ditto. I don't say that to make you feel bad about your choice or to blackmail you into keeping the baby. I am firmly pro-choice and my experience differs a little from most people's anyway. But it is important not to trivialise the experience of having an abortion - it's not like going to the dentist. If you are 100% sure you want to have a termination, and your reasons definitely do sound well thought out, just make sure you have the appropriate support from your friends and boyfriend, and don't be surprised if you find it much more stressful than you had previously imagined. What I'm trying to say is, if you're sure your decision is the right one for you, then great, just don't underestimate how you may feel afterwards, even if you know it's what you wanted.

It has nothing to do with age. Abortions on the NHS are free no matter how old you are or whether you're in full time education. You can also take the abortion pill up to 9 weeks pregnant I believe.

no it is under 9 weeks when you can take a pill, 9-13 is the suction method and 13-24 weeks is when they induce labour (got a lecture on abortion and ethics last weeks)
No-one has the right to take anothers life. Abortion is effectively murder IMO, don't do it.
You can abort if you want to, but you're absolutely going to regret it at some point in your life. You'll wonder how the child would've turned out and so on

Its not for us to judge or make statements about whether we think its right or wrong. Its up to the OP and whats right for her.

If the baby was born now would it survive?

No. Therefore it is not alive, therefore it cannot be murdered.
So your parenst will be mad at you for having sex but won't let you have abortion. Suppose they find out about the abortion they will be doubly mad. I dunno how your parents would react, are they the disowning type or shout a bit and get over it type? If that latter i'd risk their short lived wrath and keep the baby. But its up to you really but abortions are hard they can mess you up emotionally, you need to be 100% sure you wnat it and you need to talk to your boyfriend about it too.

What's your boyfriends view on the whole situation?

I can't help but feel that us guys are entirely, and unfairly, ignored during the whole process of deciding what's best in a badly-timed pregnancy.

It is not the time, place or your right to make this statement in this thread. Please carefully consider what you are saying.

That might very well be your opinion, and being pro life myself I am also against abortion.

But this is not the time or place to write comments such as that.

OP- Please make sure you think very carefully about your decision, it is one you will carry for the rest of your life. It isn't something to be dealt with lightly.

Once you have decided it is definitely what you want to do, then I guess go to your GP and get referred on the NHS.
DONT POST YOUR FLAMMING VIEWS ON HERE THE OP WANTED ADVICE AS SHE DOESNT WISH TO PROCEED WITH THESE PREGNANCY DONT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY HERE DONT SAY ANYTHING OR POST ANYTHING HAVE YOU GOT THE MESSAGE???

thank you - O.P - your GP should refer you to a place on the NHS for a date for a termination which will work out in your best interests
