Sounds like a completely doss subject.
In its current form it doesn't focus on 'black disenfranchisement'/ 'white privilege', if that's why you think it should be compulsory

we had something similar and it was a complete waste of option, had I had the 4th choice I would've picked French gcse and not been in the a level and idk what subject to study at uni mess lmao

I don’t know what that is but RS was a compulsory GCSE at my school. Technically it wasn’t compulsory because if your parents complained you could replace it with geography/history, but almost everyone did it.
It was an easy subject but we actually had a lot of fun, we did loads of debates and stuff.

Think this is pretty common in religious schools (indeed there was an RS GCSE spec specifically for religious schools iirc)

If memory serves it was beyond a pointless subject. I mean in theory it could be quite good but it was simply crammed full of useless, wishwashy nonsense.
