Xbox One S.

I would need to take a monitor and all of my games. Is it a waste of space or good socialising tool?

No. Someone could break into your dorm and steal it. What would you do then? Kick yourself.

Yes, why not? Just take a few games and you do need to ration your time!

Yeah but only if it won’t distract you while learning.

Hi there,

If you feel you are able to balance your studies alongside gaming then I don't see why not!
It might be worth checking in with your accommodation provider regarding internet speeds, as these may be slower than your connection at home.

Hope this helps,

Tom.

It can be a good, however one of my friends used his ps4 24/7 literally, he would miss lectures and fell behind, so be aware of usage

I'd bring it, it's a good way to relax and you can socialise with it. I probably wouldn't play it too much at the beginning as it might interfere with meeting people, but it's still good to have.

Thats why you get inventory insurance lol.

Someone could break into your house while you are away and steal it then. You can’t live life in the if and maybe.

Questions you need to ask yourself :
Can you discipline yourself?
Are you getting good grades?
Do you have friends? (sorry but don't snug indoors all the time go socialise)

If your in your 1year it won't be a bad idea but for 2nd year or 3rd it can be a big distraction.

Going into my first year.

1) Yes, I like playing for a couple of hours a day but I get burnt out if I play for more than 2-3 hours at a time.

2) Yeah, I mean I get mostly As.

3) Yes, I do. I am not anti-social lol.

A PS4 or Switch might be better since they’ve got nicer exclusives imo.

But if it’s all graphics and performance go and use your lil Xbox

I am not spending +£300 on a new console as the generation is about to end. A switch is good for some of the more niche games I like but it's more space I won't have. Thanks for the suggestion tho

Lol no problemo. If you were interested, buying a PS4 brand new would be a huge whump since PS5 is round the corner. Getting one used comes cheap, especially when people start selling them around Christmas to afford the new console

I'd say yes. I did my first year of Uni and brought my Switch, PC (doing Computing so it's needed) and PS4, and I never got carried away, plus besides an EC for an assignment due to being hospitalized (and the fact we had 2 lessons out of 12 due to strikes and the pandemic), I got straight As in all modules.
Then again, I don't do long gaming sessions, so you might be different. As long as you can manage time correctly and fit in some time for gaming, then sure!

That's terrible advice, I don't know what uni you have been to, but they are not all like that. I think the op should bring his console, as long as it doesn't distract him from studying.

I definitely would. Moving to uni is a really big thing for a lot of people, especially when it's your first time. Having some sort of normalcy in an unfamiliar setting can help you settle in that much quicker. :fluffy:

Just make sure you'll have enough space etc. If not, consider taking something handheld like a Switch.

No. Bring a PS4, then when the PS5 comes out buy that. Xbox? Is that even a question.

Hi!

It is definitely common to take consoles with you to Uni so I think you should do it. Just make sure that you don't just sit in your accommodation on it all the time instead of being social haha
