When i recieved my results, i was shocked to find i had got an A* in geography and had a score of 396/400 in the test .... i dropped 4 marks!!!!!!! .... is this even possible ??

Geography has always been one of my weakest subjects and i only managed a B in the mocks, do you think its possible they could of got papers mixed up or something because the mark dosent seem right and there is no way i could of got nearly full marks in that test???

Well done! I got a low C in the English Lit. mock but an A* in the actual exam, it's perfectly possible.

Also, because it was your weakest subject you may (without realising it) have spent more time revising for it or revised more effectively. Again, well done!

The mark is most usually UMS, which is a scaled version of the actual marks.
In AQA's science modular specification, it was quite easy to get 100% UMS, for example I'm rubbish at Physics but still got 98/100 UMS for the least module because it is scaled based on what everyone else gets.

I think it's this UMS system. I know for A2 I got full marks in some papers where I had missed out one or more questions!

Yes. Your paper must have been mixed up with mine. I got a grade B. Do you want to swap back?

No but i have really be overmarked, in my science paper i can distinctly remember missing out a page and only when they were being collected realising it. It was 7 makrs dropped and yet in my results i gained 47/50
    somehow.

perfectly plausible, me and my best mate came out of our AS physics exam stunned by how difficult it was, and certain we were getting 90% UMS, came out with 100%, UMS is a strange mistress.
