The British Wrestling Sex Scandal

As some people may have seen the hashtag #SpeakingOut has been trending as high as #3 in the UK this evening.

Currently 45 performers, trainers and promoters in the pro wrestling industry in the UK and Ireland have been implicated in instances of sexual assault, harassment and blackmail. The story began with a performer being accused of rape by his ex-girlfriend and has spiralled from there. Dozens of others have been speaking out about their experiences of being groped backstage, harassed by trainers, forced to sleep with promoters to get booked on shows and numerous other problems.

I’d expect this to blow up into a mainstream news story over the next couple of days. Sadly I don’t think much will change but I’m certainly intrigued to see what happens in the fallout from all of this going on.
