I dont think there is anything wrong with drinking on ones own, and it is certainly better than drinking in public, but its a last resort.

Girls don't understand... think of it this way, ladies: it's like you eating a kilo of chocolate on your own. That's how good alcohol makes guys feel.

I'd like to make a polite request that people stop using the fact that alcohol is a CNS depressant in their arguments against its use. I'm hardly a medical man, but, as far as I know, this has absolutely nothing to do with the conventional use of the term 'depression'.

Yes, it's just sheer ignorance.

I can't see the fun in being drunk alone, I'd just be bored, even depressed.

I'm sloshed drinking neat vodka alone right now becaus all my mateds are on holliday or are ********s. I've just got to the point where you can't taste the burning as much and I think it's great though I might be a bit biased.

why not ring up a mate, get them round and get drunk together.
Or...hit the pub.
It just seems a bit unsociable. Drinking is seen as a social thing, so why do it on your own.
"She’s not just thinking inside the box. She’s built a box inside the box and she’s thinking inside that box."
Seems a tad pointless imo.

Read a good book; much more entertaining way to escape from life.

I'd rather sleep! I only drink because it makes socialising easier for me, so I never have and never will drink alone as it defeats the purpose.

if i see alcohol there and i have nothing better to do i have the urge to just drink it.
e.g. wake up in my flat one day on a day off and jus drink until its time to go out at night.

also i get random cravings of my fav drink quite a lot. when i get this urge i jus need 2 drink it, more or less immediately and when i do its soo satisfying.

i never used 2 drink a lot but the past 2 years i drink so much. i have a natural urge to want to get drunk all the time.

do i have a problem?

Yup.

I think drinking alone with the sole aim of getting absolutely trashed is kind of weird, and potentially damaging to lifestyle and health. At the same time though, I don't think drinking alone is anything to be ashamed of or anything; I like drinking along and with others. At times i've drank a fair bit, probably beyond the realms of "tipsy" (bottle of wine and other drinks in an evening).

I'd say it's a problem if it's a regular thing, and you really are so bored you have to get pissed and lie on the floor all dizzy. I can't say that appeals to me at all, cos I don't actually like being properly "drunk" very much... I like drinking, and its effects, but not once I get to a dizzy/sick/uncoordinated stage; where's the fun in that??

Anyway, I am in no position to "lecture" as i've been drinking a white Russian at like 4:30 in the morning! Although personally I don't really care how it comes across to anyone else, I know I don't have a big problem with alcohol, and I very much enjoy being sober and other things...
