Then Tina borrows 50p from Tony.
Later Tony lends Tina 60p.

This is my reasoning:
Tony owes Tina 40p so Tony: -40p
Then Tina borrows 50p from Tony so Tina: -50p
Later Tony lends Tina 60p
The last statement means that Tony gave Tina 20p extra because he only owed her 40p so tina's debt is -70p because she owes Tony 50p and the extra 20p he gave her. Tony has no debt.
