Hi All

I am considering applying for 2021. I am just waiting to hear if my degree/qualifications are suitable.

Is it worth applying to Kings with a predicted 2.1 Biosciences degree? What kind of ucat score would mean I stand a chance of getting an interview with this?

Taken from the King's College London GEM admissions webpage:

Please note that all applicants are required to sit the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT), previously known as UKCAT, prior to applying to this programme. Please refer to the UCAT website for details on registration and test dates.

King’s does not have a threshold UCAT score in any particular year, but all candidates are still required to take the UCAT examination for this course. The overall UCAT score averaged across the four subtests is given more consideration than the individual subtest scores. The Situational Judgement Test (SJT) is also taken into account when shortlisting.

When considering those students which will be shortlisted for interview the selectors consider the following; predicted or achieved 2.1 (or equivalent) in a Biosciences degree; the personal statement, the reference and the score in the UCAT. These contribute to the shortlisting of candidates, and we do assess for this programme holistically, taking in to account all these factors and your performance in the context of your educational background. Examination results and the UCAT score are perhaps the most important factors when considering applications. These are highlighted as they provide us with the fairest and most consistent method of assessing applicants.

This was my reply from Kings. I’ll have to go through my transcript and see how much of it was biosciences. We did anatomy and physiology and biochemistry modules over the 4 years if it equates to 2/3. I’m not sure I will risk an application to Kings in that case.

Hello,

I'm thinking of applying for the graduate entry medicine course at KCL London. I just had a question about funding living costs etc.

Is there a maintenance loan provided. I received the maximum for my Psych undergrad, so will you receive the same again (providing my circumstances haven't changed. I understand that Student Finance and the NHS split the tuition fees between from year 2.

Thanks

just to kind of put things into perspective, my friend went to UCL with me: 2:1 biomedical science undergrad, masters at Oxford, and a 700 UCAT score. she didnt even get an interview for Kings grad scheme. she got an offer for undergrad. extremely competitive.

Did she have to interview for the undergrad or she just got an offer?

Don’t let TSR put you off tho! I know someone with just a predicted first for an undergrad BSc and a 695 UCAT and they got a GEM offer

I was checking last year's stats for KCL. Apparently their successful applicant has lowest UCAT 2810 with first undergrad.
