I was wondering, in the first year of the foundation year course, do you have take an interview or achieve a specific pass grade in the end of year exams in order to progress into the first year of the medicine course, or do you simply have to just pass to the foudation year course to go into the medicine course

I’m not from the East Midlands but apparently there’s still 10 places up for grabs for those outside of the east midlands.
My stats are as follow
BBB (achieves)
88777666BB
Ucat - 3220band 1
I score 60/64
Would it be wise for me to apply despite the small number of places?

Or look at it this way. If you get an interview 12/19 chance of an offer in that cycle so 63%.
But yeh getting an interview the hard part

Leicester confirmed I’m eligible via their widening participation requirements, and I score 60/64 in their selection process, I should be fine for an interview?

You have a good score but I can't comment on whether or not it will work out as the Uni will decide but it seems things are in your favour.
Apply and see what happens!
Good luck

Yh the university said a similar thing. Last year people who had 50/64 thought they’d be guaranteed intevriews at the cutoff was 45 from the last year. Last years cutoff was 52 so maybe I’ll have a shot or maybe I won’t.

Youve already achieved the BBB? You'll be guaranteed an interview.
I was a non East Midlands applicant and I got a place

According to stats it says 71 people with achieved A levels applied and only 19 got interviews, would this imply the 52 people either had lower achieved grades or didn’t actually meet widening access requirements. I forgot that there’s a significant amount of people who don’t research enough and hence end up being rejected pre interview.
I have achieved of BBB and score 60/64 via selection process, so I’m hoping I should be fine ))

For people who have already achieved the results, all applicants who met the entry requirements were invited to interview

They may not all have met the entry requirements

Hopefully you meet all criteria and smash the interview!

Apologies I wanted to quote it - one of the posts here mentions I wasn’t from East Midlands and got a place
Why would universities prefer local students ?
Has there been a history like this ?
I spotted a post in Manchester forum too where someone stated something similar regarding students from north west getting a place .....

It's a similar reason to widening participation - and usually for unis based in a less affluent regions. e.g. UCLan favouring North West applicants, Leicester giving priority to East Midlands students, Scottish unis treating local students and "rest of the UK" (RUK) students differently.

Has there been a history like this ?

As above.

Probs quite likely you score around 60 in their selection process, so most likely guaranteed interview. Imo tho try get your predicted grade increase to AAA Cus your more than capable of gettin an interview for the normal course

failed chemistry pretty hard, even getting the B predicted was a struggle. no chance of getting it up to an A.
