Nopee, I think earlier in this chat someone said they’ll be giving interviews out at the end of November- December

Thank you
Hi everyone, I’m not sure if this is where I should be asking this but I was just wondering if it is a good idea to accept an offer from Plymouth if I want to do surgery. I love everything else about Plymouth but have heard they do hardly any anatomy and saw on another thread that it is a bad uni to go to if you want to be a surgeon. Was just wondering if anyone could provide more insight into this.

this is a decision you can only make for yourself tbh. plymouth is a overall a v good uni, the degrees in all medicine unis are the same so it definitely wouldnt make you a bad surgeon even if there is less anatomy. you can research the course structure over the years if you want a more in depth analysis on their website, but honestly after your fy1, fy2 and your core surgical training and specialisation years you will learn more about surgery and the (apparently little amount of) anatomy youve already learned will be enough to become a surgeon. so in my perspective it doesnt make sense for people to say plymouth is a bad uni for becoming a surgeon because you will get all the training whilst specialising so it really doesnt matter how much anatomy you learnt in uni

Seeing as nationally there were 21% more medical applicants, I believe that is very likely.

and do you think they will change the ucat cut off

If they wanted to maintain their usual interview-to-offer ratio, then assuming there are more applicants the cut off may raise.

There is no point for a med school spending more resources to interview more people, just to reject more people.

Don't be. Things are out of your control - so concentrate on preparing for interviews and your school work!

This whole medicine application just got more stressful with the corona disruption

Definitely. Even in the best conditions, it's tough to just get to the starting line for Medicine.

Hence my usual advice to everything thinking of Medicine or another subject - if you're thinking of medicine or something else, do something else.

High chances for the cut off to rise. With the threshold values for other universities are very high up due to the higher scoring in UKAT, for Plymouth also it might rise for sure.

With UKAT 2610B1, A*AA predicted, can I expect an invitation for interview?

You literally quoted the post when I said I don't want to give predictions... I have no relation to Plymouth so I wouldn't know.

I dont think it will rise because they emailed people saying they will be highly likely to receive an interview if they surpass the 2400 mark. Besides because they come up with a threshold before hand and people apply looking at this, it won't be right to change it. I think they might make their interviews harder perhaps thats why they are currently coming up with an interview process.

By emailing people I mean if you ask them how likely you are to be invited for an interview*

Is it? I haven’t received any mail? Did the people who will be interviewed only received that mail?
