Why do the majority of teenagers have iPhones despite them being so expensive?

A whole bunch of reasons:
- Marketing
- They prefer iOS
- Apple's Ecosystem
- Their friends might have one, so they feel the need to get one too

offen there parents have them. So either they have a parent's old phone or to keep them in the eco system parents buy them for their kids, or somewhere in between.
Another reason why lots of people have them is that I have heard people say that the only reason they have an iPhone is because "to not have one would be uncool", despite having evidence and admitting other manufacturers make better phones.

They’re a very popular phone and deals are used all the time, some people get them on contract, some buy them used/refurbished, some pay for them themselves and some parents/family members choose to buy their children this brand of phone.

The overwhelming majority of high end phones are sold on contracts, as the low initial outset makes them more palatable. £40 per month for two years sounds downright reasonable when the alternative is £1000 outright.
