My wee m-reg peugeot 106 has started making some very strange noises when I accelerate at low speeds (1st and 2nd gear mostly but starting to do it in 3rd as well). It sounds like it's coming from under the car, no particular area, and it's a sort of mechanical creaking, groaning noise. More noticeable in lower gears as I say. Sometimes it does it, others it doesnt. Sounds sort of rusty but knowing nothing about cars, I dont want to assume. Only other problem I've ever had with this car is the exhaust and Im pretty sure it's not a hole-in-exhaust sound this time.

Any ideas? I need it for work on tuesday so may take it to the garage after work, but would like an idea of what damage it may be lol. Thanks in advance :p:

Does it make the noise under acceleration and breaking?
Try knocking the car out of gear and coasting. Does the noise stop?

Just showed my step-dad the noise and he reckons it's the front suspension needing oiled, so he's done that. Not sure about the coasting, not tried but will tomorrow. Car's on the driveway now.

When pushing down on the front of the car it creaked like a squeaky door. Hope the oil works, if not i'll get it to the garage on tuesday after work...

You shouldn't have to oil the suspension on any modern car.
You don't do it on classics - you use grease!

My suspicion is a wheel bearing tbh.
