My parents don't understand that I'm introverted

My whole family, and especially my parents are raging extroverts and were also both queen bees in high school. They constantly pressure me to socialise, and my mom gets extremely angry, yelling at me and saying how other kids my age are always at each other's houses, and how I'm wasting my teen years. She does this constantly, and shames me and it's growing unbearable, and bullies me about it. She's partly embarrassed because all her friends kids are always out and about. I'm an introvert through and through. My favourite thing is to be by myself in my room with my own company.

Mostly, I find being around people draining and annoying. Social Gatherings are a nightmare. I've been to four parties and each one caused me to burst into tears and have a literal breakdown/panic attack. My mom was angry that I wasted an opportunity to socialize and didn't sympathise with me, despite how traumatic it was. I also have a hard time making friends and don't have many people to actually hang out with.

My parents don't understand how I feel. Them begging me to socialise only makes me want to do it less. She's disappointed in me, and I really just wish she would respect my decisions and let me be, and not try turn me into what she wants. What do I do?

At present I hope you are not going to any parties, if you live in the UK.

There is really nothing you can do tbvh. She isn’t going to listen to you so there is no use bothering.

Introverted doesn’t necessarily mean that u don’t socialize at all it means that u value spending time some which is completely fine. But socializing is important too. I think ur mom wouldn’t really understand because she’s an extrovert but try explaining it to her.

Also u might have a bit of social anxiety if had a panic attack at a social gathering. Introvert does not equal someone who hates socializing they just value alone time. So u might have social anxiety and might need help with it. Just try explaining it to ur mom and she might understand. If not then any adult u trust.

Hope this helps
