Does environmental science count as a science?

In September I will be taking geography, environmental science and biology for A level. I want to be a marine ecologist, so hope to study natural sciences, ecology or a related field at university. However on the entry requirements for the courses I am thinking about doing they all say at least 2 A level sciences. So does environmental science count or is it considered a bit wishy washy or easy by university's. As I will be studying the environmental and hopefully be getting a masters degree in a field to do with the environment it seems like environmental science would be a great option for me.
Thanks for your help

It should count, but if you're worried then contact universities and ask before it's too late. (They may have some concerns over the overlap between the subjects.)

It really depends what you want to do with the environment.

Some more technical aspects like environmental data modelling probably require a physics, maths or engineering degree other roles im sure this would be suitable.

Thank you for your reply I would want to get a PhD in marine ecology and focus on conservation of marine life and then reviewing different samples and such in a laboratory do you think this would still require a subject like physics.
As I would be focusing mainly on the ecosystems, the environment, marine life and how these are being affected by different factors I feel like geography would be beneficial to have.
Thank you for getting in touch

Thank you so much for replying,
I am just waiting for the university's to get back to me

No probably not TBH, the maths/physics was more if you wanted to do data driven predictions of the environment which is just one area of environmental science that requires a very analytical background.

I think natural sciences or a bio-science type degree would open the right masters & PhD doors later on for this type of field.

Thank you that's great to hear. The subject I am thinking about a lot is natural sciences as you can specialise in ecology later on so that's great
Usually environmental science and definitely geography can be counted both as a social science or science subject but it is as always dependant on the uni. I think this is because geo can often be taken as a BSc or MA
It will depend on the university. Have a look at their websites and if you can't find anything, just email them.

Geography counted as a science at some universities, but not all of them so I expect environmental science to be similar.

Okay thank you so much for replying I am just waiting for the unis to get back to me. Do you think Russel group university's would except one of those two as sciences?

It will depend on the university and in some cases the subject. I can't give a blanket statement for all Russell Group universities because it will likely differ from uni to uni.
