I need context, but if you are changing career I would highly recommend volunteering/interning in the desired field you want to go into because employers really don't like gaps in employments unless it is university related. I do understand that certain fields is hard to get work experience in but it is important to get context of why you want to change careers. As you get older employers become less lenient on lack of work experience, completing a degree/qualification in the desired field is one step closer of getting in the field you want to get into. One of my relatives was in a similar situation as she went from hairdressing to healthcare and she part time volunteered and got her GCSEs completed before getting into Nursing school so it can be done.
