Why do people drink?

Alcohol is poison, it may have been alright to indulge on in the Victorian Era, but this is 2020. I fail to understand why people drink, it isn't all about socialising, because some drink alone at home. Alcohol is the cause for many of my mistakes, some I regret and others I do not care for, but a few people will never speak to me again because of a mistake or two. Alcohol should not be advertised on TV or anywhere else, it is time to end alcohol.

People drink for different reasons.

Some it is purely a social aspect - Like myself, I'd never drink alone.

Others drink because they enjoy the feeling of being drunk, whether it's worth compromising your health for that is a completely different question. Some people drink to cope with the harsh realities of life, again, not healthy but still a reason.

Why does anyone do anything? We all do questionable things that don't make sense sometimes.

Have you seen the state of the world? Hardly got anything to look forward to, it is easy to see why recreational drinking is so popular. Most people are severely depressed and of course alcohol isr the worst mix but also a quick fix.

I've seen some horrible things happen from someone in my life drinking too much, am I against drinking? No. That's a reflection of their character and something they would need to work on. I cut them out my life. The end. It took time to get over the trauma but I did. I understand why people drink but I don't excuse them of their actions.

But, people need to remember to drink in moderation and not to over do it. Alcohol causes the worst things, such as cancer and blindness. Like I said though, drinking in moderation is fine.

Why are there like 100 new topics on this board every day about drinking? What’s people’s fascination with talking about it?!

I love a glass of wine from time to time but tbh if we banned alcohol today or tomorrow, I'd go to sleep that bit more satisfied.
