I failed my main module in first year. Will student finance cover me to retake?

How is it going to work?

I think you have to pay yourself but it tends to be cheap.
That is unless they are asking you to retake the whole year.
In that case you get a single gift year which you can use.
In that case I would seriously question why you failed and whether you are on the correct course. It may be you arent ready for university. It may be wise to take a gap and rethink, because they will not refund you again.

I had a lot of anxiety issues throughout the year. I do enjoy my course, I just struggled approaching people.

How about maintenance loan? Do they give that to people who retake

My advice is go to the GP and the uni welfare and record the reasons you left/failed was because of your anxiety issue. Get it diagnosed and documented, You may need this documentation ion the future.
I strongly advise you do not immediately go back but take a gap year or two.
During that time get therapy for your anxiety and learn to cope with it.

If you dont then it will almost certainly repeat itself, plus you will be unhappy.
Just starting again imo would be foolhardy and ignores the fundamental problem. If this happens again, it will be very difficult to get further funding.

Do you need to retake a module or literally retake first year?

If the latter - SFE grants an additional year onto of the 3/4 year you are doing if you need to resit - it will be the same loan and same tuition fees as the other years
