Only doing 3 AS subjects as opposed to 4? watch

    • Thread Starter

If you only do 3 traditional well respected AS levels and not a fourth one will it actually matter especially when applying to university? As normally you only do 3 A2 subjects anyway? Im asking as the option blocks at the college im starting mean that if I do Maths, English Lit and Politics that means that the last block only has media, business, accounting etc and not really any I want to do.

So my question is would I be better off spending the time I would of done on a fourth AS thats not "respected", working on my 3 subjects that i'll take onto A2? Im not sure what I want to do at uni yet but will not be applying for top ones eg oxbridge.

I'd just do maybe the most respected one out of the list, ace an A in it and drop it straight after the exam. Some Unis such as Warwick often look for a 4th AS too.

Well its up to you entirely. Doing 4 AS's not only gives you the choice to drop one you may not enjoy etc but you may be at a slight disadvantage as most people do 4AS levels. Some universities my also want another AS in addition to you doing your 3 A levels as well. But i guess this varies on what course you are going to apply for and at what university. You can check with the universities that you may want to apply to..try emailing/calling them.

do 4!! if you don't you may regret it.

Do four. You might end up with one you hate and can't drop, otherwise.
