Best Universities to study Diagnostic Radiography?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me their opinion on the current top Universities for studying Diagnostic Radiography?

Thanks!
Why not do a bit of research? If we just tell you the best, you'll go to the interview and when they ask why you want to study there, all you'll be able to say is because some person on TSR told me.

A simple look on the guardian or times sites would tell you this sort of info.

Why make the assumption that I have done no research besides posting on here; I don't seek to be spoon fed.

I have done plenty of research, reviewing league tables etc, but wanted to see if any students on here studying or looking to study radiography could give their opinions.

Well, I'll be going to CCCU (Medway) to study Diagnostic Radiography next February. They have decent facilities and plenty of places, but I'm going more for the convenience of being able to stay at home and learning at hospitals which I'm most likely to seek employment from after my course. I didn't really check out other Unis that much to be honest.

I see you're a fellow Kent resider too, so it might be worth taking a look yourself - http://www.canterbury.ac.uk

Most universities will interview for Diagnostic Radiography - I have 3 arranged out of possible 4. Due to the small student numbers, 26 at Bangor University, their course may offer more student-tutor interaction and they have more clinical weeks than any other university and an excellent graduate employment record. However, it may be harder to get a place than say at Birmingham which has 102 places. More importantly to consider before you apply, is it traditional or problem-based learning that the course uses and which suits you best?

It is a requirement to have some clinical experience before an interview for most universities. When I say 'clinical experience' I don't mean you should have worked in a hospital for year, what I mean is you're supposed to have a few days in the department so you know whats what.
I strongly advise you to arrange placement for a week at your local hospital that has an x-ray department, the placement really will show you how its all done which will help you realise if that is really what you want to do.

For City I think you need to have some placement time .. I dont really remember as it was 3 years ago now.

CARDIFF ftw! :L
I'm going with Exeter on this one :P Little biased, I must admit!

Exeter's long placements might seem daunting but they give you the oppurtunity to really become intergrated into the department you're working at - you become very comfortable with the environment and therefore can focus entirely on learning how to take x-rays!

It's a little more physics-based than other courses, but not massively so... (It is based in the Physics department after all :P) x

There has been more clinical practice time which is highly rated in the degree of Bangor University (at its NEWI Wrexham campus) in recent years than at any other university offering this course but the low intake (26 places in 2009) makes it harder to get a place there. UCE Birnmingham had around 100+ places and made offers without interviewing. You only needed 2 or 3 days observation in Radiography departments and a good personal statement.

Hi I'm looking to study Diagnostic Radiography next year as an undergraduate. I've tried researching but I can't seem to find any league tables for this particular degree. Are there universities you would reccomend to study at/universities to avoid or any league tables I can get my hands on? many thanks!

Having completed my degree this year at University ofWest of England (UWE) in Bristol I really have to give the university topmarks. It has been a marvelous experience overall. The teaching support receivedby the staff at the university has been second to none. They are always on handto assist you with any queries that you may have. The subjects are very muchfocused and are required very much so in the real working environment. The universityhas added extra course modules that are useful for the working environment inwhich employers deem very useful that no other university in the region offer. Inrelation to work placements students take part in three 14 week work placementblocks all at different hospitals within the southwest region. The staff at thehospital are excellent educators and offer students the ability to work unaidedas much as possible in order to build confidence. They are very welcoming staffwhen bringing new students to the department, I have even been out on numerousevents with staff at various social gatherings, which makes you really feelpart of the team which I deem very important. There are 55 students graduatingthis year in May and 50 students have already being offered posts asradiographers which says the teaching is well above the national average whenit comes to employment opportunities. Overall, I would highly recommend UWE asan option when considering options to study Diagnostic Radiography. I hope thisis some help.

Hi,

I am a mature student starting the Access diploma in September. I am looking to study Diagnostic Radiography from Sep 2015. I haven't decided yet if I am going to stay local (in which case I would study at Teeside University) or to relocate. Could anyone give me their thoughts on the best University for this course/

Thanks
