Hi! I know this is early and forgive me if there already is a thread..but I thought I’d start one !

So...

1) Why Law ?
2) What are your GCSE grades?
3) What A Levels do you take ?
4) Do you have a post degree aspiration yet ?
5) What super-curriculars have you done for your personal statement ?
6) Other than academics, what are you most looking forward to at UCL?
7) What do you think your chances are of getting in?

I’ll start..
1) I have always been passionate about Law since a young age(cliche I know) but the case law really intrigues me and I love the idea of helping people in all aspects of life. It’s also challenging and competitive, which I believe is good for me.
2) 5 x 9s (English lit and Lang, RE , Geography, Psychology) 3x8s (double science and maths) 1x4 (Photography)
3) English Literature, Psychology, Biology +WPQ+AOPE
4) Either being a lawyer in the RAF or working in an international firm, maybe one day setting up my own !
5) 3 x MOOCs all law based, Kingsley Naples Legal apprentice competition, Leo Cussen virtual work experience, 4 week volunteer africa, wider reading I.e. Is eating people wrong?, law based EPQ, scholars programme, speaking comp, secured work experience at law firm. Etc
6) Really looking forward to the night and social life of London and joining netball and horse riding societies !
7) About 50-50 really !!

1) I love the idea of studying law and I've always been really interested by the subject. I think my skills match up well with what is required too!

2) GCSE Grades: 9,9,9, A*, 8,8,87,7,7,6,6

3) A Level subjects: English Lit, History, Philosophy and Ethics, French and EPQ

4) I honestly have SO many ideas but I would love to be a lawyer practicing abroad somewhere.

5) Wider reading, Trinity College essay competition, summer school at the Sorbonne last year, Harvard and Yale online law courses, work experience is lined up, Debate club member, Law based EPQ

6) I absolutely love London as a city!

7) I think I've got good chances! I hope anyway!

I really want to practice abroad somewhere too ! It’s difficult with law granted , but that’s why I’m looking into the RAF.
I honestly can’t wait to hopefully move to London !

I wish you the best of luck too !I haven’t got my A level predictions yet but I’m going to pray for A*A*A/A*AA ! I literally have this massive book to practice for the LNAT😂

I really love the idea of being a lawyer in the RAF and all the benefits that comes with it.

Up until recently I wanted to apply to Oxbridge, but I’ve now decided it’s going to be 5 out of ; UCL,KCL,LSE,Nottingham,Newcastle and Leeds how about you ? UCL is the current dream though

Wow that's amazing! I can't believe you're worried about not getting in with your grades when those are your predicted!
The RAF does sound so cool!
What stopped you from applying to Oxbridge? And ooo I love the sound of those other unis!
My other options are: Oxford, LSE, Kings, Durham, Bristol. I also want to apply to the Sorbonne
Similarly, I think UCL is probs one of my top choices. I just love the idea of it so much, despite the insane costs.

Yeh I think I’m just getting anxious about it for no rational reason😂
Honestly sounds amazing to me , especially this article made it appeal to me a lot https://www.raf.mod.uk/recruitment/m...or_officer.pdf

I just really feel like I couldn’t get in, I feel like I’ve seen people with 20 A* at GCSE, 5 A* at A level and work experience with the queen be rejected 😂 I also don’t think it’s 100% for me, like the courses , the social scene, high pressure etc. But I may change my mind who knows !

What is Sorbonne? I’ve never heard of it

Wow I read the article and it looks really cool! Good luck!

And yeah I agree, it seems impossible to get in and I highly doubt I will, but I might as well try! I think it's about passion more than grades tbf! And yeah there's some downsides but Idk I might as well!

And the Sorbonne is a university in Paris, kind of the like their Oxbridge in a way. You should google it! It looks really cool and I love their course!

Thank you

And yeh oxford is a tricky one for sure, but I’m 80% sure I want to rule it out now.

I’d love to study in a different country like Paris ! I’m just not sufficient enough in any other European language which sucks

To be fair I keep hesitating about Oxford. Like I really want to apply but I don't know if my heart's in it like even in the rare chance I got in, would I even want to go and dedicate so much of my time to studying and sacrificing my favourite city in the UK (London)?

And yeah I really hope I get in because I think it would be my first choice! Yes the language barrier is annoying for a lot of people unfortunately. Luckily I'm a native speaker but without that I highly doubt I'd be able to study there. Although for you Masters you might want to look into it, a lot of European masters are in English.

1) Studying law offers me the opportunity to develop a range of skills and explore many aspects of human life.
2) We don't have GCSEs, my overall percentage is around 97.
3) Sociology, Political Science, Mathematics, Economics, English
4) Criminal Defense Barrister
5) Work Experience with a Legal Clinic that specialises in reproductive rights, Model UN, Debate, Quizzes and Scholarships from the largest newspaper in my country and a Canadian University.
6) The city for sure!
7) I'm really not sure, depends on my LNAT tbh

1) I'm fascinated with the debates around the Law, for example, is morality innate within it etc and whether it is truly accessible. I thrive in stressful situations and I feel I am good at academic reading.2) 999888777663) English Literature, History, Religious Studies, Psychology AS Level4) I'm not sure where I'll end up entirely. I'd love to work for an organisation such as Amnesty. I know that Law as an academic discipline is the subject for me though. Maybe I'll even end up in academia! I'm predicated A*A*A*A in my subjects respectively. 5) Legal Apprentice, Debate Club, UCL Summer School (which I'm attending this week actually), Head Prefect at my school, Cambridge essay competition on liberty, buckets of reading. 6) I just love London! I'm also excited to make new friends whilst also exploring the city. I think I'll get involved with sport because I'm very lazy at the moment. Also, as UCL is such an international university, I'd love to learn about different cultures.7) I'm not sure. My self belief is very low so we'll see. I'm starting LNAT prep soon.I'm also applying to Cambridge, Durham, Exeter and ?somewhere else?
