Are you studying? is there no one you can ring up and invite them on a night out ?

BTW- why don't you have 'friends'? do you mean to say you have no one not even the 'hi' 'bye' friends?

I was like this too! Did manage to find two people to go for a drink with.
Then I went to uni and now I am sorted. You going?

What about having a family meal? Most of my friends had a meal with their family and then friends on another day, especially if their birthday was on a weekday or a Sunday. If your parents ask why your not going out with friends, just say Sunday isn'ta good night to go out or that there are plenty of times to go out with your friends now that your 18, so you would liek to spend your birthday with family.

Thats just a temporary fix to this problem, how come you have no friends?

Just go for a drink with your family and hopefully you'll make friends at uni.

I didn't have many friends when I turned 18 so I just had a family party. Hopefully I'll have a big 21st. :proud:

I have plenty of friends/associates, I didn't want to do **** all for my 18th, I ended up going to a party which was the same weekend and got beat up on the way, I was really drunk and had a horrible hang over for my birthday, just should of stayed in as planned...

Morale of the story is, do what you want and it won't upset you.

18th Birthdays are over-hyped rubbish, don't feel as if you HAVE to do something, it's your day, spend it how you want. I planned to give up drinking once I turned 18 just to be the opposite of everyone else!

EDIT: Oh yea, and if you're worried about what to say to your parents or whoever, just say you can't be bothered to go out because it'll end up everyone pressurising you to drink too much and you'd rather avoid it because it wouldn't be fun. Something like that if you want, go for a meal with family or something maybe?

Lol. 'Going to spend my 18th birthday on my laptop'. Just go down your local Conservative club or Working Men's Legion. I met all my friends down there (and at college obviously), and have made some of the best mates ever.

Just do what you want to do, I feel more proud of being an individual and doing what I want rather than having friends but being a sheep who follows trends etc.

grab anyone you know (even if it's like one person) and go out for a drink, meet people whilst you're out!

from 15 to 17 i had one friend... seriously, and she never went out. My 18th I went to a hotel pub with her

But after started going for drinks with people i didn't really know that well and it paid off. Friends of friends to start, and like now i've started seeing friends of my brother's now i'm older. If you want to make friends you'll be surprised how easy the opportunities come!

Yeah, so will I! Oxford is a very loving city it seems!
Im really sorry you have no one to celebrate with, but also try not to get too bummed, when you're older and surrounded by uni friends you may look back and be glad that you spent the last "childhood" birthday with your family, they're the reason you have a birthday to celebrate after all

Im also sure you will get brownie points for telling them you choose to stay with them, if your leaving home soon im sure they will appriciate it.

I'll be hoping you have a great day anyhow
