I'm just about to buy a new remote key thing for my car off ebay (as neither of mine work), but it comes with an uncut blade. I could swap the blade from one of my old keys into the new one, but would I be able to get the new key cut at just a normal locksmith?
It's a fairly old car so the key is IR and isn't coded/chipped etc and can be easily programmed for my car.

Yes, I imagine you can.
If you like, take your normal key to the place and check.

On second thoughts, they might say no if it's not their blank, because if they screw it up (either they chew the key up or it just doesn't work in your locks) then they'll have to replace it and not just take another blank key out of the drawer.
If the blade will swap over, do it.
