To incentivize work why doesnt the Government incentivize work by raising minimum wages at the same cutting income tax. Any reduction in the tax take could be offset by scrapping or cutting welfare to the bare bones.

At the minute you have a system where welfare pays more than work thats why great swathes of the population are addicted to it more than the worst drug.

You may also find if people couldnt spend their welfare **cough** other peoples cash on alcohol, tobacco and netflix then they wouldnt have to run to a food bank every week when their brains are wondering where all the oodles of cash given to them for doing f all has gone.

Time for a card based system to stop welfare being spent on non-essentials. The welfare gang say they are bored so they smoke and drink...well heres a thought --- get a job you lazy $%#%!!

The thousands that didnt show up to their work assessments is only scratching the surface of the generations of idle shysters in this country. These people are all experts in exploiting the system and know all the tricks e.g way to a bigger house for normal people is work for it, for them its simply bang another benefits baby out and go scrounging to the council. The system allows it time for that to change.

This country is heading for oblivion due to the do f all culture and someone else will take care of everything that these people have. Time for Boris and co. to wipe the smile off them once and for all while they swig their stella and puff on a pack of regal.

They dont 'incentivise' it, it's already worth peanuts :lol:

This must be one of the most ignorant posts I have ever read written by an attention seeker. Going through the process to claim any welfare from the government in the UK is one of the most humiliating, difficult processes and results in several mental health implications. I am not someone easily worn down but I have personal experience and it is the most difficult thing to have ever gone through in your life. I doubt you have any experience writing this and your point about taxes suggests to me that you probably don't work yourself and are struggling to understand how the tax system works.

Clearly you dont know the system or how to game it from your fellow claimants. A top ESA / PIP claim plus extras such as clothing allowance, this grant that grant will net you a cool 40-50k tax free, you not realise that? Millions are doing it already. Millions more were doing it before being found out and not showing up to their medicals!

The benefits cap is total bs so many exclusions no point having it. Working people should realise the welfare gang are laughing at them for having sympathy for their ability to live very comfortably off the backs of others that work.

The liberal lefties actually think its ok to pee your generous welfare on tobacco and booze then go running to a food bank when they wonder where all the money from the magic money tree has gone! Am surprised the welfare gang arent campaigning for 'free gas, leccy, petrol, clothes etc' they already live rent and tax free so why not add those benefits into the mix.

Looking at the drunk louts on show yesterday people arent short of a few quid at the minute, one was screaming on tv its all welfare mate 'easy money' indeed good on you for admitting the truth!

Boris - Britain is now a country where only fools work! Stop incentivising the welfare gang to carry on sticking their hands into the pockets of fools that work. Rather than importing millions of eastern european migrants let these lazy local shysters off their butt and into picking fruit and cleaning hotel rooms they dont need skill or qualifications just a work ethic and sadly welfare has created generations of bone idle morons in this country cut the umbilical cord of welfare then lets see what they do, a good shock to their system.

You do realise that many people in full time work have to claim 'welfare' of some sort, don't you?

Really?

Can you explain how getting any of these is difficult?
- State pension;
- Christmas bonus;
- Best Start Grant;
- New Style JSA.

How the hell is living off £58 university credit a week a life of Riley??? In order to get that £58 they must jump through hoops.
1) Arrive a minute late to sign on or other job centre appointment and they get punished with a 3 month sanction. 100% of their benefit cut for 3 months. Do it again and it’s 6 months then 3 years!
2) They are forced to do Workfare or loose their benefit. They don’t get to choose where they do that work, it could be for the pound shop or another profit making company. Fail to attend or late one occasion. 3 month sanction. 6 months if refuse to take part at all.
3) They must apply for 7 jobs a week and provide full evidence of that in addition to their full time Workfare or be sanctioned for 3 months. 6 months or 3 years! Improving their behaviour will not get the sanction removed. Sanctions are fixed and none negotiable.

You’ve obviously been watching too many crappy right wing Channel 5 benefits programs, where benefit claimants can afford giant plasma screen TVs, sports cars, luxury holidays, 20 ciggies a day and afford tickets to attend premiership football matches every week. All on £58 a week? But then right wing media garbage is like that. People will believe anything if they saw it on channel 5 or in the Daily Mail or the Sun, or Express etc. No wonder so many gullible people voted Brexit.

Complete rubbish welfare is like an addictive drug thats why millions are hooked on it and hand that idle ethos from generation to generation. JSA or ESA plus PIP combos pays a handy sum tax free.

You forget these people live RENT free in, Council Tax free they get tax credits which I never understood as they pay zero tax, housing benefit. Clothing grants, fuel discounts etc etc

People have a choice go to Uni rack up debt of 50k going there then bag a mortgage of 200K etc and be saddled with debt for the rest of their life.
OR leave school at 16 get rent free council flat with tax free income on the side need a bigger house, bang a couple of benefits babies out then voila bigger house handed out to you on a plate. No wonder the only people that can afford to live in Central London are unemployed welfare junkies.

Why do we have 3 million Eastern Europeans working doing jobs idle Brits wont do and would rather park themselves life long on welfare?

The Sky CEO recently informed shareholders that any cuts to welfare threatens a majority of their income - says it all doesnt it regarding their lifestyle right? Spend all their benefit on sky, netflix and alcohol then run to a foodbank when they wonder where all their money has been wasted on?

Welfare shouldnt be money as these feckless shysters are so irresponsible they have no idea how to prioritize so when all the money has been splurged on alcohol and scratchcards they moan that the handout from fools that work isnt enough!!

Gotta be honest, I'm pretty happy about being on £73k/year with no need to have kids rather than being on benefits.

Knightsbridge is full of dole scum - they have very nice Ferraris at the taxpayers expense!!
