Do we need to know the history of the atom for example the gold foil experiment.

No, you don’t
I have just finished a level chemistry on OCR and we were given the specification for each module and that was never mentioned

Strictly, it is mentioned, but only as a HSW in the guidance.

You're right, though, you don't need to know it.

No I don't think so, but search for the ocr spec online to double check

Nahh you don’t at all
wow really, we need to know that for GCSE'S. AQA tho so might be a bit different
