I tried to never play at home because I didn't want to inflict the noise on anyone else. But sometimes I couldn't resist. It must have been torture for my poor neighbours.

Mine were the sounds of an inexperienced violinist which is probably the most dreadful sound in the world, and also the sounds of a cornet played who frequently ran out of breath and had a bad cornet which had been dropped on the floor by previous players within an inch of its life.

are any of you really beginning to get fed up with the lower sixth applying to medicine for 2010 entry. my ex-sixth form asked me to give a presentation to them on friday due to my situation with offers and interviews etc. Th minute i walked in the room they asked me a million questions that could be answered by reading prospecti. Every other kid seems to be applying to medicine aswell. I love medicine, don't get me worng, but it is so annoying when kids don't realise the amount of other jobs out there - i could tell clearly that there were probably aboutt 30% who had a true passion and the others were kids who just want it for the respect and all that rubbish. these are the types of uncommitted people that apply to medicine and i really wish they would give others a chance

    No.

I'm currently in the process of setting up a talk for my school voluntarily because I want to, and because I didn't get anything like that.

When I look back on my application there's loads of stuff I wish i had known back when I started it all, and I want to share what I know now. I did loads of research back when I was thinking of applying, and I can't see any reason not to give it out to everyone.

I can see how some people think that you should do your own research to prove you really want it, but at the same time I think that we have a right as potential future doctors to be doing everything we can to encourage people to study Medicine, rather than setting up more hurdles on top of all the ones they've already got to jump over.
