hiya! me again 😊
i was thinking earlier about the saying ‘don’t worry about it’ and other sayings along those lines. if someone says this to me, it doesn’t actually help. it doesn’t stop me from worrying, which seems to be the purpose of saying this.

what about you? does the saying ‘don’t worry about it’ have any impact on you? do you think you worry more or less having heard that, or does it have no impact?

if you think that the saying doesn’t cut it, what would? what could we apply to everyday life that you believe could effectively reduce our worries?

Depends what I'm worrying about. If it's something that isn't actually serious and I'll likely forget about, then it actually makes me step back and reevaluate. If it's something that is actually serious it bothers me when people say it, but I know they're usually trying to be helpful. Context matters. I tend to worry about a lot of things because of my MH issues though, so.

I use "don't worry about it" all the time.

Never worry about which you have no control over. What will happen will happen. If you need something to happen desperately, you will find a way to make it work because true failure is never an option.

If it is someone who is a friend or someone i'm not close enough with I get quite hurt as it is like shrugging your shoulders.
If anyone says it and actually means it and gives me tips and listens to me on my vent I really appreciate it.
Kind of in the middle

It can be, yeah. People think about way too much than they need to on some topics (those with anxiety in particular) and there has to be that occasional 'stop' or 'relax', otherwise a lot things just repeat in your head 'what will this do, what will that do, what happens if..., will there be...' etc etc. Stop, relax - don't burn your head out for...nothing...
