Face sensitive to touch - what could be the reason?

Sometimes my face is really sensitive to touch and I have recently been touching it a lot when massaging and I have noticed that particularly the area around my cheekbones is very sensitive to touch and the touch doesn't feel entirely pleasant. I thought - this is going to sound so dumb - that it was because I have prominent cheekbones and that I was using too much force, but even when I am really gentle, touching the area feels very uncomfortable. It isn't painful, but it isn't pleasant.

Is this normal?
