Hi everyone,

I have been set the following assignment question and I'm a little stuck!

Has anyone had any previous experience of doing this question in particular? I'm not looking for any answers, just a bit of guidance please! I'm especially confused with the time frame, the timetable that they've given is for a month long but, have also specified that you have 10 days from 'today' to submit the assignment for marking?

You are required to produce an assignment plan that will support you when writing an illustrated report for your unit 5 assignment.

You do not need to write the report for this unit – you only need to produce an assignment plan.

Your assignment plan needs to be as structured and detailed as possible so that you can use it when completing unit 5.

GUIDANCE:
Using the timetable approach to assignment planning, you should firstly list all of the stages that you are going to need to complete for your unit 5 assignment, from reading the assignment brief to producing a first draft, through to producing your final draft and submitting it for marking.

You must review the unit 5 assignment brief and the relevant assessment criteria before producing your assignment plan. Your assignment plan must then include the structure and format of the unit 5 assignment, including any sections, headings and word count(s).

Where you include the first draft you need to break this down into the different sections you will need to write for an illustrated report following the recommended report format that is in section 1.1 of the study materials for the ‘Academic Writing Skills’ unit. Each section within the report format includes an indicative number of words; you should incorporate this information into your assignment plan.

You then need to allocate each of the stages a suitable time frame for completion. The submission date for your report is 10 days from today and the start date is today. Ensure that you use actual dates within your assignment plan and not ‘week 1’, ‘week 2’ etc.

Once you have done this, you should enter all of your stages and their allocated time frame for completion into a timetable or chart. Refer to the timetable provided in the Assessor Guidance for this assignment.

You can then review your timetable to ensure that your time scales are realistic and that you are going to be able to submit your assignment by the set deadline.

The timetable approach to assignment planning should include:-
• An outline of the content, format, structure and layout, including relevant word counts
• Deadline for the production of the first draft
• Allocated time for proofreading and amending
• Deadline for the production of the final draft
• Allocated time for final checking
• The submission date

If anyone could help that would be amazing!! Thank you in advance

Martinah91 please could you help?
For this unit you need to go on word and create a table with Monday-Sunday at the top. Than over ten days you need to write how you are going to write your assignment. For example, Monday, day 1 write section 1, 250 words, source appropriate pictures for section one. Day 2, Go to the library and rent a book on cell biology.

Just make things up, your assignment plan needs to be over ten days, the actual report on unit 5 you have plenty of time to do it.

Ohh I see, thank you so much for this!! So, what about the table that they've given me in the assessor guidance? That's for the whole month and they've said I need to put my planning into there.

At the moment, I have written a list of things I need to complete the assignment from learning the unit content, to first draft and final submission for marking. And then, I have also put out the whole structure for the illustrated report which is:

Title page
Introduction
Contents page
Findings
Recommendations
Reference List
Bibliography
Appendix

And I will be putting in the different sections (stem cells, cellular metabolism, cellular growth etc..) into the sections. Also, what day do I put down as the start date because they said I can't keep it general?

Thanks so much!

You just need to choose any ten consecutive days in the table, any date it doesn’t really Matter.

I've just finished this unit , what you basically have to do, go on Microsoft word create a table that looks like a calendar mark 1-31 .Pick any 10 days and write what you will do each day to complete the next unit eg, breakfast at 8am the between 9am-2pm research question 1 2 3 then 3pm -4pm break 6pm-8pm write rough copy and so on for each day.Write the specific title on the contents you are writing for. Plan it well and make sure to leave time for references and proof-reading add as much detail as possible.

Then write a few paragraphs to why you have planned in this way and your reasoning below the calendar.

Hope this helps.

Please can u can ur assignment so that I can be able to do it.This is my third time
What you can do is to create a table lets say with 3-4 columns. First one write task second one time needed third one deadline date.So bellow task you can write reading study material and researching, go to the next column and write lets say 3 days deadline date lets say the 4th of December if you are to start today. Then under tasks the next thing you can put is writing first draft here you put title page, introduction (100)words, page content and so forth then on time needed put like 2 days and next your deadline date until you finish everything and put as many notes as you can.Hope this will give you an idea on how to approach this question
