Personal preference - there’s not a ‘better’ of the two. I’ve driven both but prefer to drive manual. I like the feeling of driving and find manuals too lazy.

Which is better?
I would learn on a manual:
-flexibility to drive whatever you want (especially if you want a cheap first car)
-I personally think you become a better driver in a manual as you have to constantly interact with it, learn to match the pace and acceleration of the car to a nominal gear.
-Automatics definitely are better for cruising, not as enjoyable tho.

-Long term I rather suspect all cars will have 2 peddles, super complex transmission systems are coming designed for parallel-hybrids & its inevitable e-shift will be the only way.
