I've just got some random questions related to car insurance. Is there a limited amount of time after an accident in which you can report it? Is your insurance only really used if you're involved in a serious accident which damages you car and/or another car rather than if a car is only damaged slightly by someone else? In the case of injury to someone, such as whiplash, how much would you be expected to pay out? If you need to make a claim against someone, do you need their insurance details or can you just give your insurance company their name/telephone number/address/registration number?

Basically, if you're insured any accident that happens with your car can be paid out on the insurance not with your own money?
