My wonderful mother has an elegant red dress in her wardrobe, that I want to wear. How do I ask her to borrow it or should I simply steal it?

"Mum, can I borrow your dress?"

It matters very little that she knows I cross dress, but she must have a hint, as my dad and I walk around town wearing dresses, makeup and heels, we are free spirits.
