Ahhhh, someone should program something like that. I've googled it and cannot find anything. I've been looking for something like Collegeboard's college matchmaker for US schools. Well, I've just been having so much problem looking for a college that is right for me, and since there are so many colleges, it is hard for me to compare all. I want a college that is pretty(this is actually pretty important to me, lol), older, and bigger(more people). Also, I'd prefer one that is not too expensive(rooms, fees, etc) because I will already be paying the full international tuition. What colleges do you think are right for me?

Also, what colleges have full 3 year accommodations? How about 2 year?

I was thinking about Christ Church, but is it too overrated?

Come to Worcester. Medium age (18th century mostly) and size, but full 3 years accommodation, and many disinterested people would say it has the best grounds.

Christ Church is a great college. Some distant family and friends went there, and they say the nice thing about the college is the fact that it doesn't feel claustrophobic, and there are enough people for you to be able to feel a bit of distance.

I would look online, though, at the alternative prospectus to get an idea of fees for comparison, and contact the college to get information verified.

While it doesn't matter so much to UK students, there are a few thousand pounds in difference over 3 years between the colleges, and with the lovely exchange rate being what it is, it can make the difference between making the guarantee, and having to turn down a dream oppurtunity. I did an open application, and I was lucky my parents were good savers and able to make the guarantee, but it was close at one point.

Do you want 3 years accomodation' because you don't want to live out, or 3 years' accomodation because you don't want to deal with landlords? Some colleges (e.g. Jesus ) have flats owned by the college, so although you get all the benefits of living out - more independence, having your own kitchen and living room etc - you're still surrounded by another 100 of your college-mates and you don't have to pick who you live with until June, or deal with rubbish landlords.

Magdalen sounds right for you, large, pretty, accommodation guaranteed for the length of your course, good kitchen provision to save on food costs...

It's not great (it doesn't ask questions about preference relating to kitchen facilities and completely misses out 5 colleges) but it might help a bit.

Hehehe... that picked the right college for me. Then again, when you have questions about 'effortless superiority' and 'rather be a ******* than a bloody Trinity man' - you know what's coming...

Yeah, loving the Balliol-centric last two questions, and the way they probably completely void the rest of the questionaire.

"yes! Send me to this earthly Paradise now!"

Woo, I got Worcester on that test, which is definitely high up on my list of preferred colleges, with my actual college (LMH) coming 3rd Accuracy ftw

Though ChCh came 6th on mine. Hmm.

Thanks for all your replies! They all helped!

I tried the quiz thing, and I got Christ Church as my first one, 100%. Magdalen and St. John's sounds appealing to me though. I didn't understand some questions(weird ones like 21, 22) so I skipped a lot, but here are my results..

    (100%) 1: Christ Church (1546)
    (96%) 2: Magdalen College (1458)
    (88%) 3: Merton College (1264)
    (88%) 4: New College (1379)
    (84%) 5: Corpus Christi College (1517)
    (84%) 6: Oriel College (1326)
    (84%) 7: Trinity College (1555)
    (84%) 8: University College (1249)
    (80%) 9: The Queen's College (1341)
    (76%) 10: Brasenose College (1509)
    (76%) 11: Keble College (1870)
    (76%) 12: St. John's College (1555)
    (76%) 13: Wadham College (1610)
    (73%) 14: Jesus College (1571)
    (69%) 15: Balliol College (1263)

    why??
Because I loved being at a further out college (LMH) - being surrounded by tourists all the time would drive me crazy. Even at times when you wouldn't think it would be busy (e.g. mid-afternoon on a weekday), it is. College is generally where you live and socialise and I think I'd feel like my privacy was being invaded in such a touristy place. It was bad enough when we had people staying at LMH in the holidays. At big touristy colleges like that (Magdalen is another example) you also generally have to show your student card every time you enter, which I wouldn't like either - why should you have to prove you're a student and that you actually live there every time you want to enter? Somewhat tiresome, bothersome and irritating if you ask me, perhaps even insulting.

For something less quantifiable, I also like less showy architecture, and I prefer smaller colleges (I find the big showy colleges somewhat intimidating).
On a more practical level, ChCh is a bit of a mission from my department. I'd imagine that if you study Music then ChCh would be OK, seeing as the two are practically neighbours.
