Living in boyfriend's house until next weekend when we move into a new house together with two other mates. I have to leave for work at 12... I go downstairs to the front door, go to open it to get the post out of the porch, and I can't open the door! Normally really easy to open, just push the handle down and you're away. But no, entire body weight on said handle and it still wont open. I texted two of the lads (boyfriend works 40miles away, so it seems silly when the other lads are a few minutes away). I have a back door key but it only opens it from the inside because the outside lock is broken (yay for crappy landlords) so I can get out but I can't lock the place back up again, and I really can't do that. Mate who works nearest - I've asked him to nip up (it's literally a 10 minute walk) and see if he can open it, because I really really can't. It feels like it's been double locked ie. you need a key to open it from the outside if you just pull it to, but if you lock it with a key you need a key to open it from either direction.

So I'm stuck. I don't want to call and harass him, because I only text him about ten mins ago, but he hasn't replied, and if he's not here by midday I'm going to have to call work and tell them I'm going to be late cause I'm locked in my own house... how lame does that sound?

Argh! Messages of sympathy are appreciated (and mocking is mildly understood).

No such luxury here I'm afraid. If I climb out of a window I'll fall a whole storey and probably break something, lol! Can't open the downstairs windows either

Yay, mate is on his way back from work to try and let me out. Not sure what we're going to do if it doesn't open!

Are you sure it's not some evil plot and you haven't been taken hostage?
