hey, i chose my AS courses yesterday, and for my fourth subject I chose fine art painting.
But now I'm panicking, I got a B grade in my GCSE and I'm worried I won't be as good as everyone else....you had to have a C grade to get on the course, but the people that I know that are doing it got an A grade.
I did GCSE art and design, and my strengths lay at drawing and sketching. I didn't do alot of painting, as we were encouraged to use various medias and such....we didn't do alot of painting in the class
Will I be able to learn to paint effectively? will sketching and drawing be a part of the course? or will i struggle as I only got a B in GCSE??
PS I really enjoy art, but I'm really worried I will suck at AS art!!!

My school entered us as Fine Art 'Unendorsed', so we could use and combine any media, but I don't know if/how this would work for your board. Sketching and drawing should still be part of your course (they can't expect you to paint everything) and it's not as if they'll ignore your work if it's not a painting.
Since there are fewer of you, there will be more chances to paint this year. You'll improve a lot over the course, and even through the projects - it's just a natural thing that happens as you do it. This can help to build a really strong sketchbook, as you show your progression and improvement.
If you manage your time properly, you can definitely get a good grade. In my personal opinion, your fourth subject won't matter too much for later on, so the fact that you enjoy it should be enough to stop your worries.
Best of luck.
