I might be joining Aston in September and wanted to know how much help Students are given when finding placements and preparation for the interviews for it.

Hi - thanks for posting.

We have a really great careers and placements team, who will really help to support you throughout the process of finding a placement and then during your year. It's really important to us that you find the best placement for you and that you enjoy it once it starts - so there's a lot of help there for you.

Aston SU posted a video on Facebook this week sharing some really amazing student stories about the career and placement support they've received - it's well worth a watch: https://en-gb.facebook.com/astonunio...7074964771714/

Hi there,
This varies from student to student. Most start their search and application process from the beginning of their second year. But people can start as early as the end of the first year. The placement team is always at hand to help and provide support regardless of when you start.

Hi what is happening with placements with the whole COVID situation are the compulsory courses with placements letting students off with doing a placement or they still have to do?

Hi there,

The situation with COVID-19 is ever changing so we can’t predict what will happen with placements next year!

However, as a placement student myself (starting in September) I can assure you that the placement team has been giving lots of advice and support for those doing placements.

Placements are still taking place with more flexible options available so students can gain valuable experience throughout the pandemic.

Many remote placements have become available where students can work from home - in addition to flexible options (partly remote/partly in office).

I hope this helps!
