I’m looking into applying to the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (highest ranking uni in italy). I am currently studying A levels. Would I need to take IB’s to get in?

probably not, do you want to study in Italian or in English? I know for medicine in Italy (at least for the course in English) you only have to write a test like UCAT or BMAT and school grades/final exams results don't matter, so maybe that might be also the case for your course?
