Hi Ethel,

Thank you for your response.

Do you think students receive sufficient support via distance learning? As in access to lectures etc? If you don't mind me asking are you studying Health Psychology via distance learning?

Thank you,

Momta

Hi there,

From what I've heard about distance learning, and with experiencing some version of it at the height of the pandemic I'll say that students are sufficiently supported. Lectures are uploaded on the blackboard in advance as they normally would under normal circumstances. Lectures are held online in accordance with the student timetables and discussions are facilitated by the lecturers as well during these online sessions. The functionality of the online platform is well adapted for distance learning. Students are sufficiently supported both mentally and academically as lecturers are just an email away, and the different university departments are just an email/ phone call away.
I don't study Health Psychology, but feel free to ask me any further questions and I'll answer the best I can.

when will we find out how much of our course will be online and how much will be in person? aston haven’t emailed anything

I think most likely big lectures will be online and seminars and workshops will be in person.
That's what a lot of other unis are doing.
How are the Engineering and Applied science facilities at Aston? and do students there enjoy it?
What laptop is best to buy if youre doing chemical engineering. Or which operating system required to do the work?

Hi there!!

As I’m not a chemical engineering student I don’t know which specific systems are used but if you go to our page here - https://www.aston.ac.uk/study/courses/chemical-engineering-beng-2021 you can speak to current students who can help!

Hi!!!

No problem at all I understand this fully! When I first started uni I was super lost!

The letter in front of your room e.g N440 specifies it will be in the north wing of the building - and 440 is the room which will be on the fourth floor!

Everything is sign posted in the main building and there will be plenty of people to help but I’d recommend giving yourself plenty of time to find your way around !

Hi all!

A bit about myself: I have lived in Birmingham my whole life and I will be graduating from Aston University in a few months time.

Are there any questions you have regarding your courses? student life? Birmingham? or the student union?

I will be more than happy to answer them for you.

Is it true that Birmingham is the centre of all crime? I'm international but I remember reading a story about how a man got stabbed in his bum in the middle of Birmingham and apparently everyone laughed. Also what's the point in going to Aston when Grealish has left?

Hi There,

I am applying for MPharm and Aston is one of my choices. However, I hear bad things about the quality of teaching and I have yet to hear a good thing about it. Can you tell me how it is for MPharm and other science subjects?

Hi there,

I don't think I can answer this fully but I will try my best. The course will prepare you for a range of specialist careers in consultancy and business analysis and is also a suitable first step if you want to pursue a research or academic career. Graduates have secured employment in a wide range of roles such as Business Analysts, Data Analysts, Information Systems Graduate Trainees and Junior Consultants.

This has involved working for organisations including JCDecaux (UAE), Scope International (India), Roland Berger (Nigeria), Harman International (China), Xtremax (Indonesia) Jhpiego (Kenya), Jaguar Land Rover, Microsoft and Santander (UK).

Hi there,

I am not a psychology student so I can't speak about the degree itself. However, I can answer your other question.

There's a lot of support available to you whilst on a placement year as the Aston team recognises you may lose that in-person touch with the university by being away for a year. The team keep in touch with you through newsletters and emails even if you don't necessarily keep in touch with them. You are provided with contact details in case of an emergency situation while on placement. There is also a global response team available for those on placement internationally. Whilst on placement you still have support from On Placement Support Team, the Enabling Team, Counselling and Mental Wellbeing Service, and ComPsych ( Global Student Assistance Programme that offers counselling, legal and financial consultation to students free of charge, no matter where you are in the world). After the start of the academic year, you'll also be assigned a placement tutor to help and support you.

Hello, my predicted grades are BBC and pharmacy requires BBB. Do you think I would get an offer? Btw im not eligible for a contextual offer.

Hey, did you get an offer?
Hi,
I unfortunately haven’t been able to get a place at Aston to study economics. Instead of waiting until the 14th, is there any way I could check now if I would likely be accepted so I’m not wasting time on results day as I already have my grades. Thank you

Hi, was wondering how you would go about living in student halls accommodation such as: 1) Staying in Canalside which is 15 mins walk through a fairly rundown area with 4 other people, and is the cheapest out of all i have seen. 2) Staying in lakeside which is on campus and will be sharing with 9 other people (How would you approach living with that many other people?)

Thank you for taking your time to answer our questions.

I will be a bit late for my university course civil engineering. The start date is 16th of September but I will arrive in the uk on the 21st of September. I will miss the freshers week. Will this have significantly impact on my studies.

Also I have unconditional offer from aston which I have confirmed as my first choise but there has been no communication from them yet about the course start date enrolment etc.

Many thanks
