Hey guys, just asked about masters. Sarah Ward said if we were to defer our offer to do a masters that would be fine, and they will assign us a department next year. I also asked about timeframe of appointment and she said there is no timeframe.

Hi I wonder how many are waiting to be assigned a department... Did she say what the process is to defer the offer? It would be good if they actually sent everyone who is waiting some sort of update on options!!

No she didn’t mention the process and I don’t know how many are still waiting on the list (I am guessing still quite a few?). I’m just concerned that if there are no vacancies before feb then we will have new competition from the new 2021 cohort (I.e the year below). Moreover Sarah ward said the civil service had an ‘aim’ to employ everyone on the reserve list but that’s no guarantee given there are no jobs at the moment...

By timeframe of appointment, do you mean when we may be placed? I.e. if we’re still on the reserve list then it’s possible we may be placed at any point between now and Sept 2021?

they did say we would be placed "as a priority" next september, whatever that means

Yes exactly, when we will gain employment. Basically I asked thinking maybe they had an aim of trying to get us all employed by December for example, but they don’t. Unsure about the September 2021 date as I never received an email about that, but I heard a lot of people did :frown:

are you on fast stream or mainstream? not sure if its the same situation for fast and mainstream, but again who knows

Some clarity from them regarding our chances of being offered a job would be great given the distress they've caused. I'm assuming they've maybe not decided yet the priority that they are going to give us in comparison to new candidates who apply in future recruitment campaigns. There's probably about 100 of us on the reserve list, therefore to know a position in the merit order would be very insightful to determine how good our chances are of ever getting offered a job role.

I also don't understand how long we are likely to stay on a reserve list, whether it is until January or September?

Totally agree with you. I asked a while ago for my position in the listing and I got no response. Just my opinion and this may be incorrect but given it all works on merit order, I doubt they will give us priority if next year there are candidates with higher grades. Have you tried emailing Sarah ward?

I did the same - asked a while ago for my position on the merit order and got no response. Has she replied to a couple of your emails now? Yeah completely agree I would assume it will all just work on grades next year as normal and so we'll not really be given any priority.

Sarah ward has responded within two days to my two different emails, she’s being very responsive at the moment. Best point of call at the moment

Hi I’m on mainstream reserve list too. I think fast streamers are prioritised so I don’t think you’ll hear much about the mainstream anytime soon, you just have to hope you’re near the top of the reserve list 🤷🏽*♂️

Hi guys, I was placed today in DfT for the GES fast stream. My pre-employment checks were massively delayed and only completed two weeks ago, so I was never actually placed on the reserve list. I hope it means they'll start processing more people soon though!

Reply 115

@ other GES fast streamers how confident are you of actually being placed next september, do you think that being placed as a priority means its definite ?

Reply 116

Hi has anyone had an update from the fast stream team? Also is anyone bothering to apply for this years fast stream as well, or are you confident that you will get something anyway?

I'm one of the mainstreamers who had initially received an offer but was then placed on reserve, and this morning got an assignment. Hope this gives you some hope bcos I wasn't expecting anything to happen (not at least so soon).

Thank you. I can't remember my scores exactly but I think I got 4,5,6's (and a 7?). You'll hear back from them I'm sure, best of luck!
