How to tell if my boyfriend is a top or bottom?

I'm a female and I'm a switch. I want to know if my boyfriend is a top or a bottom with out asking him. Is there anyway to subtly ask/know?

It's relatively easy to tell if he's more submissive or more dominant by considering simple things such as whether he often takes the lead and makes decisions, or whether he prefers others to take the lead and make decisions.
It's harder to tell if he's top or bottom though, so if that's what you want to know, you're probably going to have to have a conversation with him about what he likes and what role he prefers to take.
