The answer is none of the above. The correct answer is Hogmanay - which is New Year's Eve. Very often it is sung on the stroke of midnight, as the new year comes in

"Auld Lang Syne" is a poem set to song - which is generally attributed to Robert Burns. However, as it was Burns' intention to become the national poet of Scotland (an ambition he succeeded in) he curated a lot of old Scots songs, as well as creating some - so authorship is not entirely certain.

"Auld Lang Syne" is a song is about friendship and keeping faith with those who may no longer be with us in person. Many of Burns' works concern themselves with such humanitarian themes. When the Scottish Parliament reconvened in 1999, it was a Burns' song that was sung in the Chamber: "A man's a man, for a' that". The work of Robert Burns is incredibly interesting as it gives a real insight into the Scottish psyche. "A man's a man" for example, tells us that a person's value is not to be measured in their titular worth, it is not the position they hold, or the content of their wallet that defines them, it is the content of their heart. That's a trait which really defines Scottish people to this day.
New Years
Thank you, my friend.
