So i'm interested in joining the MOD police however the hurdle i have is that i have served time in a regular local police force but left before completing my probation , and you must have "exceptional and compelling resons" to get past this into the MOD.

The reasons for leaving my previous police role is just not seeing a happy and satisfied career life with the nature of response police work. Dealing with everyday domestic and missing person/mental health issues isn't something i particularly want to pursue and other issues in response work become clear once you've begun the role.

Anyway i am far more interested in a firearms role in the MOD and was wondering if any currently serving personal can give their opinion on whether i have a chance or not of getting through this barrier of not finishing my previous probation.
Is there any better way of getting past this in terms of reasons? Thanks

Hi, without coming across as lecturey, or demeaning to yourself, you're going to have blooming hard to demonstrate you can do MOD police work. If you quit the police cause you didn't want to do the work of a police officer without even trying it, it won't look good on paper or in interview if you repeat what you've wrote on here. MOD police do a wide variety of things as you prob know, but at the heart of it they're still police officers. Many will be armed officers at MOD properties. Most of the time you'll be guarding the buildings with members of the public entering and exiting plus potential tourists and every day members of the public. This means that the domestics and the other issues you didn't want to deal with, you will have to deal with as a warranted officer. Plus carrying a firearm means the role won't be easier than what a response officer has to do. It's massive pressure as those things aren't toys. If someone goes for your weapon and takes it off you or you have to use it, the paperwork will be draining and that's without the potential implications of either scenario! The MOD will make checks with the local force you left and will find out why you left. You can either be honest with them and that may get you somewhere or lie and hope they don't actually check. But in my opinion, and this is just my thoughts, if you can't handle the job of a response officer, I don't think you'd be cut out to be an MOD officer. Good luck either way. There are plenty of great officers in MOD but they can all deal with every policing issues, they just have a specialism.
