So I’ve been planning to make an appointment with my GP but they only do it by phone. I have no idea what to say to them when they ask why I’m calling. I either get too scared or I freeze. What do I say?

Make sure you tell them clearly and with a reasonable level of detail why you need to see the doctor. That way they can allocate you sufficient time as you may need a double appointment. Try writing it down to read out, so you don't miss anything.

Remember, if it requires you to phone the doctor, it's not something to keep putting off. And reception will have heard all kinds of things for the reason for appointments, so don't be embarrassed.

I think there will probably be an online interface where you give details of the problem first and then they call you back. This is great! You can even upload photo. It saves masses of time and the hassle of going to the surgery if you don’t need to.
