Before people **** this genre off, there are some good Indie bands out there whether mainstream or not.

    Cut Off Your Hands
    The Kills
    The Subways
    Blood Red Shoes

    you add the list on,

Basically a chance for people to explore new bands and explore this genre further.

    It's a bit of a paradox.

But if you're looking for good Indie nowadays, you can't really use the word "Indie".

    Blood Red Shoes, hell yes.

You into the Duke Spirit? They're alot like Blood Red Shoes. :3

    Indie is, in general, ****.

The only good indie bands that spring to mind are the subways and the strokes.

    Bloc party are vaguely withstandable.

LOL! You can't say you think indie is **** then cite the subways as a good indie band.

The Kills are really good. Although the girl appeared rather smashed as she sat down and smoked on stage at Leeds Festival.

Vampire Weekend: wry, clever lyrics and some good tunes.

Bands that are good and have that indie rough staccato guitar sound and droney voice, are few...if any.

^lol, love it being said after the post that's two up.

well you quoted me before i could delete my post, but i wasn't referring to the band. i was just kidding.

yeah broken social scene are good, but i don't consider them indie. i'm guessing they meant bands like the libertines, the zutons, the kooks etc.

    Eh, **** gets hazy though.

Broken Social Scene are more alternative/baroque pop really.

Indie has to be the crappest genre catagory at the moment. As you said it's a total oxymoron.

It's kinda petty but I prefer calling the stuff I listen to "alternative". Mostly because of bands like The Wombats. :\

People seem to consider GoodBooks indie and they're wonderful. Their music's nothing new but the lead singer has a lovely about-to-burst-into-tears kind of voice. :p:

They were ace at Leeds I was loving them.

What I WASN'T loving was the lead singer's constant need to act as if in a porno, though I did like her dress.

You might like Bat For Lashes if you like The Duke Spirit O.P

What do people think of Johnny Foreigner and Los Campesinos at the moment because it's been critically acclaimed.

I think LC are okay but don't think too much of Johnny Foreigner.
