i am about to go into year 11 so have to start thinking about sixth forms

i am currently at a state girls school but have always wanted to go to private school - i dont know why i just have

so now is my chance when looking for sixth forms. however, i do not think my parents can afford it now that they are going to pay for my sisters uni accommodation for 3yrs!! i was thinking of getting an academic scholarship but i dont know whether i would get it - its still not enough off the fees. i might be smart enough (im hoping to get at least all As but i dont know what the competition is like)

i dont mind whether its day or boarding (boarding is more expensive though) but there is only one local day school that i could get to near me and the scholarship is only 15% off.

i would probably end up going to a state school for sixth form but i would at least like to try at private education but i dont know what to do!!

please help, any advice apprieciated

I think you should give this scholarship a go..It's worth a try and maybe if you get a part time job or something - that would lesen the amount of money your parents have to pay?

It's not only the fees you'll have to think about though, you'll need things like a uniform (I'm assuming) and I doubt that things like trips etc will be free!

If this is something you really want to go for, could you see if you could get a local business to sponsor you?

Your best bet is to sit down and talk this through with your parents, see what they say.

If you do really really well (like all A*'s and do very well in the entrance exams) you could get a 110% scholarship which is when the school pays for literally everything like tuition fees, uniform, travel.

This extremely clever girl at my school got this and attends rugby school

Can I just ask what you think you are going to get out of being at a private school which you can't get from going to a state school / college?

An empty bank account!

Anyway, I'd say better facilities, excellent teaching, a wider range of extra-curriculars etc.
