I am planning on doing my Maths EE on the Martingale theory. I have heard that one of the possible goals that you can seek to achieve in a Maths EE is the origin and subsequent development of a branch of mathematics over a period of time. Although I am passionate about the subject and find it interesting and applicable to the real world in many ways, it is a topic that is rather sparingly covered in the syllabus. Although secondary research is not lacking from what I have seen so far, I still don't know how to structure both the research process and the essay itself. I may just be overthinking the whole thing but I may also be under thinking it. Any advice from past or current Maths EE candidates would be greatly appreciated.
